This beach park is located about half way between Brookings and Gold Beach in southern Oregon. The view is great and it's also a favorite launch site for many of the local windsurfers.
SUNSET AT CRATER LAKE
It was cold and the wind was blowing hard, but it was worth stopping for one more view of the lake before heading for camp.
HART MOUNTAIN PRESERVE
The Hart Mountain National Antelope Preserve in south-central Oregon sits on a ridge and highland area just east of the Warner Wetlands. We saw plenty of antelope, but the night sky was in full bloom at the campground below the ridge.

Located in southern Oregon just north of Port Orford, the lighthouse sits at the end of Cape Blanco Highway. Along the highway is a state campground and a historically preserved farm as well as a number of nice houses.
SUNSET AT DUNGENESS HOOK
The hook is located off of Hwy 101 between Port Angeles and Sequim on the northeastern corner of the Olympic Peninsula. There is a very nice campground and good trails through the woods. Beyond the campground is the start of the Dungeness Hook, a spit of sand extending out nearly five miles into the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The locals like to ride their horses out for a view of an evening sunset.

The small town of Port Orford is located along Oregon's southern coast. The south side of town has a nice beach with it's own bit of Indian uprising history. Luckily, no one was hurt.
SUNSET AT THE OREGON DUNES
The Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area is located along the coast in central Oregon south of Florence and is quite extensive, reaching down almost to Coos Bay. There are many pull-outs and access points along Highway 101. Find one at sunset and you may discover a beauty you would have otherwise missed.
KOOSAH FALLS
Located along Highway 126 between Eugene and Santiam Junction, Koosah Falls is one of the many scenic waterfalls found in Oregon. This photograph was taken in the pouring rain. I was soaked during the five minutes it took to get out of the car, take the shot and then run back to the car. I only spent ten minutes at the falls.
UMPQUA BEACH, OREGON
Located just south of the town of Winchester Bay, the beach is near the Umpqua Lighthouse State Park. The Oregon Sand Dunes National Recreation Area brackets the state park both north and south for many times farther than the eye can see.

On the north end of Whidbey Island, Washington is the famous Deception Pass Bridge. A trail starts next to the bridge and goes toward Deception Pass State Park. Sunset is a good time to go.
WIZARD ISLAND
Crater Lake National Park is a wonderful place to visit. Every time I've been there, however, the boat operation was closed and I've never been able to visit Wizard Island. Maybe next time.
CRATER LAKE OVERVIEW
If you can find a clear day at Crater Lake, the overview can be spectacular. Can you imagine the surprise when the first cowboy stumbled over the ridge and saw this view?

Located on the Snake River between Idaho and Oregon, the dam is quite isolated from civilization. Below the dam, however, is a major launch point for boaters heading downriver for an even more isolated adventure.

FORT STEVENS STATE PARK
This large Oregon state park has just about everything--including one BIG beach. In season, hundreds of cars litter the beach as clammers dig for clams. Situated at the southern side of the Columbia River mouth, this was once an army fort. There are still many artillery emplacements to tour.
